I must confess that the first moments in Kyoto weren´t pleasant. We took an overnight bus from Tokyo to Kyoto. It is a good way to save money, the trains are more comfortable and faster for sure, but also more expensive. Plus we saved the expenses for a night in a hotel for four persons. The bus itself is totally fine, nothing too uncomfortable. But we didn´t really consider the fact that my boyfriends parents are not at the same age as us. They were very good travelers the entire trip, but the morning we arrived we were all exhausted, especially the parents. Problem here was that we didn´t have anywhere to stay in the early morning we arrived. What made things much worst was the pouring rain. We did have a hostel booked, but the check in time was only at 3PM. So we stayed at the common room, parents were sleeping, I was nervous, my boyfriend was stressed out trying to hold everything together. Not a fun start at all. But everything got better when we finally got out and took a walk visiting temples and eating at a ramen place. Traveling is not only fun and games, sometimes the stress will hit you, very often the situations are not under your control, but it is important to learn to overlook it all, in the end it´s all worth it.
I felt in love with Kyoto after this rough morning. We visited Japan in very right time when everything is amazingly colorful. I´ve always liked autumn and this season is very unique in Japan. Even with a bit of rain, how could you not love those colors?
